Lesson
What the videos were for.
A hit in this decade often had two jobs. The record had to work on a radio, or on a dance floor, with a drum machine keeping time when no band was in the room. The video had to give that record a face.
Three official videos on Hits show the split. “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” is a machine pulse with a voice on top. “Take On Me” draws the singer in pencil and then lets him leave the drawing. “Girls Just Want To Have Fun” moves from a bedroom to a street, and the chorus is built to be answered. The pictures belong to the artists. YouTube plays them.
If you can describe the picture and the beat separately, you understand what the video added.
